Queen Elizabeth II | Celebrating 60 Years

Sixty years ago the UK and the rest of the world switched on their black and white televisions to see the news that Princess Elizabeth was to become Queen Elizabeth II. To celebrate this occasion, the UK has an extended Bank Holiday weekend with the late May Bank Holiday being moved to Monday 4 June and an additional Jubilee Bank Holiday taking place on Tuesday 5 June. When the Olympic Torch Crosses Tower Bridge: Planning for the London Summer of 2012

London is calling all right. It is estimated that a quarter million people will visit the United Kingdom’s capital city during the summer of 2012 to attend events including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics, the Paralympics, and the Wimbledon Tennis Open Championships. An estimated eight million tickets will be sold for the Olympics, which are scheduled to run from July 27 to August 12, and the Paralympics, which will be held August 29 to September 9.
