10 Biggest Global Relocation Challenges Facing Companies and Their Employees

No matter where country relocation managers are transferring employees,  plenty of challenges are lurking, according to Cartus’ 2012 Trends in Global Relocation Biggest Challenges Survey, released last December.

When ranking factors that posed the greatest challenges to managing their overall global relocation programs in 11 regions around the globe,  relocation managers cited controlling relocation/assignment costs and complying with laws and regulations first (61 percent) and second (51 percent), respectively. Housing ranked third, with 41 percent of respondents considering it a significant challenge.

Companies are moving their employees to vastly different locations than they did even a few short years ago – and the challenges these moves present are expanding just as quickly. That’s what 193 global relocation managers told Cartus in our second-annual Trends in Global Relocation: Biggest Challenges survey, which focused on the issues confronting managers of relocation programs and their employees in 11 regions worldwide. 2012 Trends in Global Relocation | Cartus Survey

Cartus surveyed 122 relocation managers from the Americas, EMEA, and APAC for our 2012 Trends in Global Relocation survey. They lent their insight into the trends and challenges companies and assignees face and how their global relocation policies and programs are responding.
Among the highlights of the survey:
Global relocation continues to grow, but benefits are being reduced.
A full 57% of respondents expected relocation activity to increase, while an additional 37% expected it to remain constant, for a total of 94% who either anticipate activity to remain at current levels or expect that it will increase.
