A Worldwide ERC® SpeedSession on Our Biggest Mobility Challenges: What’s Keeping Us Awake at Night!

In many ways, it seems like a lifetime ago that the day-to-day focus of relocation program managers and service providers was related either to moving employees within their home countries or to sending employees to established international destinations. Although those moves and assignments presented their own set of challenges, a booming real estate market in the U.S. and the mature infrastructure found in developed countries certainly helped keep those challenges relatively in check. That’s far from the case these days.

Congratulations to Bill Sheridan for an Award Well Won!

While at meetings with a number of our clients last week, one of the topics that came up frequently was the importance of identifying and managing the key drivers and trends in our industry. At Cartus, we know that industry events and forums play a key role in that goal – with one example being the events hosted by the U.S. National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC) and led by the group’s vice president, Bill Sheridan, someone whom we have had the pleasure of working closely with over the years.

During the session, I reviewed data from our recent survey on emerging markets—a particularly hot topic for our clients as corporations continue to expand into new territories to help drive their growth.

Our survey’s data revealed that multinational corporations are actively pursuing business opportunities in the countries they consider emerging markets. Called “Mobility Challenges in Emerging Markets,” the report found that more than half (51 percent) of respondents indicated that emerging markets are currently more important than traditional markets, while fewer [...] Read More
