Cartus Gets to Work: Ride Share Day in Danbury

Planes, trains, and automobiles? How about buses, bikes, and carpools? On October 19, Cartus’ Danbury office celebrated Ride Share Day and it was a big success. We had 141 employees who shared a ride, rode the bus, or pedaled in to the office. Our ride sharers helped save 170.6 gallons of gas, reduced emissions by 1.7 tons, and eliminated 3,753.2 commuting miles. In addition, Marsha Aarons and John Brantley of URS, our ride share partner, were on hand to discuss the benefits of car pooling with other Cartus employees.

A total of 23 companies, institutions, and individuals were recognized in the “Best of” gold, silver, and bronze categories. Among other gold winners were the state of Arizona, the Mayo Clinic, Microsoft, Stanford University, Verizon California, and Virginia [...] Read More

Co-riders often develop strong friendships, and for many, that aspect of carpooling surpasses the cost-saving benefits. Nevertheless, the cost-saving benefits are considerable! According to Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell, from May 2009 through April 2010, Connecticut carpoolers saved an estimated $1.1 million in commute-related expenses. They saved a lot of wear and tear on the environment, too; Cartus ride-sharers reduced their car [...] Read More
